In 1997 the Growl launched an award for the “Fan Favourite”. The Growl members voted for their favourite Bulldog player and the one with the most votes was presented with a personal plaque. In addition his name was added to the plaque retained by the club. During the 2006-07 season the Growl launched a new trophy called “THE BILL STURRUP TROPHY, THE GROWL FAN FAVOURITE”. The player voted the fan favourite receives a small replica trophy and his name is engraved on the larger club trophy. A presentation is usually made after the regular season ends.
